JORDAN
Trekking to Wadi Rum and a visit to Petra.

 

From Thursday October  25th till Sunday November 4th. 2007


 

Wadi Rum is a fascinating massif in the desert of Jordan, where also the mythic Lawrence  of Arabia found refuge. It is a wide land, in which is possible to do a lot of excursions, that reach involved canyons and the top of the mountains, from where you can see the immense desert all around.

The trip includes also a visit to the best localities of Jordan, as the inevitable trip to Petra, the archaeological place of Nabataeans old culture.

Than you can stay on the banks of the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, where is possible to do some exciting excursions.

 

Programme:

 


 

  

1° day: departure from Milano Malpensa with flight for Hamman.

Arrival and transfer to the Hotel.

 

2°and 3° day: driving by car to Petra. Arrangement to the Hotel, trip on the famous archaeolo-gical  place.

 

From the 4° to the 7°day: transfer to Wadi Rum, camping on tents. In this period we shall do a lot of excursions on the rock of Wadi Rum, included climb to Jebel Rum, Burdha’s Bridge and Barrah Canyon. Some movements on 4x4 are included.

 

8°day: we go by jeep along the tracks of desert, till Aquaba. In the afternoon snorkeling in the Red Sea. Overnight by Hotel.

 

9°day: morning in Aquaba, than trip by car along the street that sails the Dead Sea. Halt in Wadi Mujib and camping.

 

10°day: excursions and canyoning to the natural reserve.

There is the possibility to swim in the Dead Sea.

 

 

 

11°day: transfer to Hamman, visit to the capital of Jordan.

 

12° day: flight to Milano Malpensa.

 

 

Difficulty: the most difficult climb, which is the Jebel Rum, takes at least 8 hours walking  (to and fro), included some easy climbing and rappels. Technical abilities are not request. You need only to be used to walk and  have costume of the camping life.

 

Overnights stay: hotels, tents to the Wadi Rum. The Wadi Rum camping is a simply campsite, with showers and other services. Food is available at the near rest-house, or small restaurants to the village.

 

What do you need: normal shoes for trekking, clothes for trekking, sleeping bag, mat or mattress, electric torch.

Costs: € 1.100,00, plus € 500,00 for  charges on the place.
